Biodiversity
Biodiversity may seem like a difficult thing to understand, but it's really simple!! Biodiversity means all the different organisms that live in a designated area. Take your backyard for example. You live there, in the vicinity anyway. If you have a pet, add that to the list! Plus, all of the birds, worms, and insects, too! That makes your backyard a very diverse place! Although your backyard may be small compared to jungles and deserts, it's still very diverse! The most biologically diverse place on Earth is the tropical rain forests! There are thousands of different species that live there! You can find anything from frogs to snakes to jaguars to crocodiles! The world is very diverse, no matter where you are!

Carolus Linnaeus
Carolus Linnaeus may seem like some old man with a wig, but he's a very important figure in the world of science. Linnaeus created the term taxonomy. Taxonomy is term used to classify organisms with their scientific name. Organism's scientific name is the genus and the species name. For example, the scientific name for humans is Homo sapien.

Levels of Classification
You may not know it, but there is a classification system to identify every living organism. It seems like a complicated thing, but in reality, it's very simple to understand. With every classification, the type of animal gets more specific. There are 8 levels of classification. They are as follows: Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species.

Scientific Names
A dog's name is actually more complicated than it seems. It's Scientific Name uses the 8 levels of classification to identify it. The same goes for any other organism. We are humans, but we are also Homo sapiens. we call them dogs, but their scientific name is actually Canis lupus familiaris. Scientists do this so everyone in the world knows what animal they are speaking of, regardless of the language spoken.

Biomes
There are many different biomes in the world! They are the tundra, taiga, grassland, coniferous forest, deciduous forest, desert, temperate rainforest, and tropical rainforest!

Natural Selection
Survival of the fittest! Natural selection is where organisms in an environment, who are better suited to survive, survive!
